Rider’s Commitment Please seek out riders from within your department willing to put the time and effort into this event. We would like to have at least one officer ride from each department for each officer killed in the line of duty in their department. Agencies who have not had any officers killed in the line of duty are requested to send at least one representative. Have them contact Sergeant Randy Sterett (714) 538-2694 as soon as possible. The first formal meeting was held in January. Each rider is expected to: Raise $500 in contributions for Project: 999 (see attached sheet of pledge raising suggestions). The first installment (non-refundable) of $100 was due on Monday, March 12th, 2001 by 1700 hours. (exceptions will be made if space remains). Checks should be made out to: S.A.C./Project 999, please include your name and the words “Memorial Ride” in the memo section of the check. No cash please. This establishes your commitment to the ride. You will also receive a Team: 999 bicycle jersey and a one-year membership in the club. Team: 999 is a USCF/NORBA sanction bicycle club, made up of law enforcement officers, their friends and family, complete with its own annual race and bike event. The second and final, non-refundable installment is $400 due on Friday, April 20, 2001, by 1700 hours. Attend every monthly meeting. Meeting dates and times will be set based on the schedules of the majority of the riders. Signa training commitment contract. This isn’t an easy event. Anyone is welcome to train with us but anyone expecting to complete the ride must make a higher level of commitment. Train! Train! Train! We will be organizing training rides during the week with increasing mileage. This can be with ride participants, clubs or other competent groups. Please do not attempt to train on your own. This can be a lonely sport. We are representing all of law enforcement during this event. Teamwork and cooperation are a must. Foul language and rude behavior will not be tolerated. In the event that more than 55 riders from throughout the County wish to participate, each agency will be first limited to a number of riders equal to the number of officers killed in the line of duty for that agency. If there remain still more than 55 riders, a lottery system will be enacted. We are limited, at this time, to a 55 rider maximum due to money, transportation and logistics. |
