Financial Services

Financial Services supports the Department through the following units:

  • Financial Operations provides accounts payable and accounts receivable processing and oversight, Department travel arrangements and grants administration. Jail Cashiering staff serve the five jail facilities, including recording and disbursing inmate funds for an average daily population of approximately 5,000 inmates; processing bonds, bails and fines; and depositing, distributing and reconciling funds from inmate commissary orders.
  • Communications Financial Operations provides billing, timekeeping and other specialized financial services for the Sheriff’s Communications Division.
  • Payroll functions include departmental payroll activity for 3,500 employees; daily timekeeping; preparing biweekly payroll; preparing pay adjustments and supplements; distribution of pay checks; and completion of payroll information forms for personal loans, insurance claims, court cases, state claims, workers' compensations claims, CAL-ID claims and IRS audits. Systems is responsible for development of computer applications and installation of hardware and software designed to maximize the efforts of Financial/Administrative Services Division staff, plus the provision of technical support.
  • Supply Detail orders and maintains supplies, and manages mail correspondence for the Department.
