When does an inmate receive Commissary?
Inmates may order and receive Commissary up to three times per week. Dependent upon housing location, commissary is delivered to the inmate population on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; or Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
What is available through Commissary?
There are approximately 150 items available through Commissary. Categories include personal care, hair care, snacks, nuts and chips, beverages, candy, food items, stationery supplies, greeting cards, and gift certificates.
How are prices for Commissary items determined?
Prices are determined by comparing the prices of identical or similar items at local convenience stores.
How can inmates purchase stamps and blank envelopes?
Inmates can receive stamps and blank envelopes three different ways: 1) purchased from the Commissary using the order slip, 2) ordered and paid for by a friend or family member, and then mailed directly to the inmate from USPS.COM, or 3) sent directly from an attorney or Public Defender's Office.
I had money with me when I got arrested. Am I able to buy commissary with that money?
Upon being arrested, all personal belongings in your possession are placed in Property. You may write an "Inmate Message Slip" to the cashier requesting a transfer of your money from Property to your account with the cashier.
I have money on the books. Why didn't I get my Commissary?
This depends on when money was placed into the inmate's account and the time the order was placed. At times, money is placed on accounts after orders for a particular facility have been processed. Another reason may be due to a facility transfer. If this is the case, the order will be delivered on the next scheduled delivery for that facility. If you have had money in your account for some time and were not transferred, you can submit an Inmate Message Slip to the cashier requesting your account balance.
I received a receipt from the cashier. It says I have money. How long does it take to be placed into my account?
It depends on when the cashier inputs the information. You can write an Inmate Message Slip to the cashier requesting the status of your account or you may simply go ahead and place an order. If the money is not yet on your account for the next delivery, the CSTs delivering commissary will notify you that your account has non-sufficient funds.
I refused my order a couple of days ago, but my money has not yet been placed back into my account. How long does this process take?
It usually takes one to three business days.
What do I need to do to receive a Welfare Pack?
You may only order a Welfare Pack if you have less than $2.00 on your account. On the upper right hand corner of the commissary order slip, there is a bubble to request a Welfare Pack. Welfare Packs can only be ordered once a week.
How do I know how much money I have in my account?
You can track your receipts or write an Inmate Message Slip to the cashier asking for your account balance.
How much money am I allowed to have in my account at one time?
$500.00 maximum
I'm going to be released in 2 days. If I refuse the Commissary order, will this money be placed back into my account before I get out?
When an inmate is going to be released in a couple of days and refuses the Commissary order, the money will usually be put back on their books the next business day, however, it may take two to three days.
