North Patrol provides police services for the 75,381 residents of unincorporated Orange County. These 71 County Islands are located adjacent to the cities of Anaheim, Buena Park, Brea, Garden Grove, Newport Beach, Orange, Santa Ana, Tustin and Yorba Linda. Also included are the communities of Midway City, Rossmoor, Sunset Beach, Silverado Canyon, Modjeska Canyon and Newport Coast, as well as the contract City of Villa Park. North Patrol deputies respond to approximately 42,000 calls for service each year.

Specialized Details Within Patrol

Special Events

Contract police services are provided to the Orange County Fairgrounds, holiday enforcement for Harbors, Beaches and Parks, Huntington Beach and Newport Beach.

Bike Team

10 Deputies Used for proactive enforcement and high visibility patrol.

Critical Incident Response Team

Trained to secure crime scenes and contain suspects on major incidents, aiding the Special Weapons and Tactics Team.

Drug Recognition Experts

Expertly trained to recognize individuals under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Canine Services Section: In February of 1985, the Sheriff’s Department recognized the need to initiate a K-9 program. This program has significantly reduced the man-hours used searching for suspects, evidence and lost children. Officer Safety has also been significantly impacted by the implementation of a K-9 Unit. Seven deputies and their canine partners currently provide coverage within the County. Their high-visibility acts as a powerful deterrent for criminal activity. High levels of training and commitment of the canine deputies, has established this Unit as one of the most highly respected in the state.
