The Community Programs Reserve Unit is composed of sworn and unsworn members of the Sheriff's Department that coordinate and attend community functions, including car shows, school events, and parades, among others. Our unit provides a law enforcement presence to educate the public and stress the importance to all of staying off drugs, staying out of gangs and staying in school.
The Sheriff's drug abuse program is entitled "Drug Use Is Life Abuse" (DUILA) and is an integral part of the Sheriff's Department which is supplemented by the Reserve Division. Among our many duties, we are proactive at these events in the recruiting areas for Reserves, Regulars and Explorer's, while presenting the community with the general knowledge on law enforcement activities. This interaction creates a positive bond to law enforcement within our community and enhances community involvement.
Our "attention getters" at these events include a military Humvee (pictured above) which actually saw service in Desert Storm and was subsequently refurbished through the generous activities of many donators and additionally, a very cool, off road vehicle (shown at left) privately built and sponsored by our Reserve Lieutenant, Jer Kahala.
If you would like to explore the many opportunities offered you by CPRU and truly make a difference, please contact Reserve Lieutenant Jer Kahala via email at: firstname.lastname@example.org
