The Orange County Sheriff’s Department in partnership with the Orange County Health Care Agency and the Orange County Department of Education are hosting a series of free, public presentations on electronic cigarettes and their use by students in local schools. Topics will include the various types of e-cigarettes and vapor pens; how they work; their prevalence in schools; health concerns; and prevention tips. Presentations are intended for adults only.

Mission Viejo School Resource Officer, Deputy James Porras is offering parents a 10-week program designed to help them communicate effectively with their teens. While the program targets parents with difficult teens, it is program that would be helpful for any parent. Topics covered by The Parent Project will include argumentative children, improving school attendance and performance issues, and preventing alcohol and drug abuse.
Classes will be Tuesday evenings beginning January 28, 2014 and concluding on April 1, 2014. Ten consecutive classes meet at 6:30 p.m. at Norman P. Murray Community & Senior Center. To register or for more information, call Mission Viejo Police Services at (949) 470-8433.
