Mission Statement

Meet current and future Information Technology needs of the Department by improving the security and effectiveness of our infrastructure; identify, manage and deliver information in a proactive, reliable environment; Recognize and enable information sharing in cooperation with our county criminal justice partners.

Information Systems is responsible for designing, developing and supporting the Sheriff’s regional networking infrastructure as well as over 100 law enforcement computer applications from county-wide (Automated Jail System, Automated Warrant Service System) to specialized (Dispatch/911, Commissary, Crime Reporting). Support for standard desktop productivity applications, such as email, office products and internet access is also provided. Over 10 million transactions per month flow through OCSD systems. Access to local, state, federal, and international law enforcement databases is provided for over 58 outside criminal justice agencies. Electronic live scan fingerprint submissions are accepted from locations throughout the county. Information Systems hosts the state's Disaster Recovery system for the Department of Justice and provides backup for DMV’s Photo system. Information Systems also manages the Orange County Sheriff’s state-of-the-art Data Center which is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Sheriff’s Call Center located in the Data Center, handles over 1,200 calls per month.

Information Systems is part of the Support Services Division. It consists of nine separate units, employing 53 staff (24 County & 29 contractors). These units include Application Development & Mobile Data Computer, Mainframe Operations & Call Center, Web Development & Support, Desktop/Server/Blackberry Support, Network Administration, Security Administration, CAD/RMS & Mapping/GIS, System Operations & Support, and Systems Liaison.
