Accident reports dated September 15, 2008 or later are now available on-line. Typically, it takes five (5) to ten (10) business days for an accident report to be made available on-line, and there are certain accident reports that may not be available on-line, such as:

  • Those that occurred in another agency's jurisdiction
  • Those involving serious injuries and/or fatalities
  • Those involving driving under the influence and other criminal offenses
  • Those involving juveniles

The Sheriff reserves the right to further restrict the availability of on-line accident reports.


California Vehicle Code Section 20012 makes all required accident reports and supplemental reports confidential except to the following person(s) who have a proper interest in the report. Those with a proper interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

An involved driver
The guardian or conservator of a driver
The parent of a minor driver
Any named person who was injured in the accident
The owner of a vehicle or property damaged by the accident
A person who may incur civil liability, including liability based upon a breach of warranty arising out of the accident. This category includes an insurance carrier against whom a claim has been made or may be made.
