Correctional Services Assistant Trainee Recruitment Process

Sheriff Human Resources screens all applications to identify qualified candidates. After screening, the more qualified candidates will be referred to the next step in the recruitment process.

Written Exam / Pre-Screen: (Pass/Fail) Those who meet the minimum qualifications will be invited to the written exam / physical agility test via email. The written exam consists of job-related, multiple choice questions. Those who successfully pass the written exam will be given a pre-investigative interview and may be referred to the physical agility test. (Pass/Fail)

Physical Agility Test: (Pass/Fail) The physical agility test will be given on the same day immediately following the pre-investigative interview. The physical agility test consists of three events that are timed and scored. Applicants must be dressed in physical training attire to participate.

  • Sit-ups: Complete 12 sit-ups within 2 minutes
  • Push-ups: Complete 12 push-ups within 2 minutes
  • 3/4 Mile Run: Complete 3/4 mile run within 8 minutes and 15 seconds

Oral Panel Interview: (Refer/Non-refer) Candidates will be interviewed and rated by a panel comprised of subject matter experts and civilian personnel. Each candidate's rating will be based on responses to a series of structured questions designed to elicit the candidate's qualifications for the position.
