Kid Entrepreneurs Come to the Aid of Hurricane Sandy Victims with Team Kids LemonAIDTM Restore America!

Irvine, CA – November 16, 2012 – Team Kids, an Orange County, CA based nonprofit, is again mobilizing children across the country to raise money to help victims of natural disasters by launching Team Kids LemonAID Restore America. The event started Wednesday, November 16th and will continue through Monday, December 31st. Kids across the nation are encouraged to set up homemade stands on neighborhood street corners, city parks and malls to sell lemonade, hot chocolate, cookies or crafts, there’s even a car wash being planned. Elementary schools are also taking the lead by planning school-wide events dubbed “Jammies for Jersey” and “Jerseys for Jersey,” with kids making a donation to the Red Cross to wear their favorite pajamas, or sports jersey to school.
Team Kids LemonAID was created by students in Irvine following Hurricane Katrina as a vehicle to mobilize our youngest citizens to show their support for the victims in New Orleans. Since 2005, children have worked alongside police and firefighters raising and donating more than $90,000 to charities through the Team Kids LemonAID Stand project following Katrina, the Wildfires in California, the Earthquake in Haiti, and the disaster in Japan. Kids’ true power took hold following the devastation in Japan. Kid-preneurs from Hawaii to Maryland raised more than $43,000, in just 21 days, for the American Red Cross Japan Relief. As always, 100% of ALL donations from youth led efforts, are given to charities, other than Team Kids. All donations raised through Team Kids LemonAID Restore America will be given to the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief.

“LemonAID is a proven strategy to mobilize our compassionate young leaders,” said Julie Hudash, Team Kids founder and CEO. “It’s so inspiring to see the unbridled enthusiasm the kids have to serve and to know they are helping others in need.”

Team Kids LemonAID is challenging business leaders and community members to support the children by matching LemonAID donations. Businesses can also host a Team Kids LemonAID Stand at their location of business, or even host a virtual LemonAID Stand for the Red Cross Hurricane Relief.
