The week of August 11-17 is National Forensics Science Week. Sponsored by the Major Cities Chiefs Association, the week is set aside to recognize the important contribution forensics play in law enforcement and criminal investigations. Throughout this week, we will be highlighting aspects of the Orange County Crime Lab (OCCL), a nationally recognized leader in the forensic science community.
Established in 1948, the OCCL provides all public agencies in Orange County with services for the recognition, collection and evaluation of physical evidence from crime scenes. Highly regarded in the forensic community, the OCCL is the only full-service, internationally accredited laboratory providing forensic analyses to all law enforcement and fire protection agencies in Orange County. The Division employs 135 staff members, housed in a 100,000 square foot facility, serving more than three million residents of Orange County.
Making Orange County a safe, healthy, and fulfilling place to live, work, and play, today and for generations to come, by providing outstanding, cost-effective regional public services.
