Tentative Identification of Suspect in Deputy-Involved Shooting
YORBA LINDA, CA - (August 12, 2013) – The suspect in the deputy-involved shooting that occurred on Saturday, August 10 has been tentatively identified as Bryan Song Yang, 37, of Riverside County. He has been booked on warrants pending further investigation and additional charges. He remains in a local hospital.
On August 10, at approximately 2:00 p.m., an Orange County Sheriff’s deputy contacted Yang in the parking lot of Denny’s Restaurant on Oakcrest Circle. During the contact with Yang a deputy-involved shooting occurred. A subsequent pursuit terminated on the eastbound 91 freeway near the Coal Canyon exit where Yang was taken into custody. The deputy was not injured during the incident.
The Orange County District Attorney’s office is conducting an investigation, as is the protocol in any Orange County Sheriff’s deputy-involved shooting.
