February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness month and Laura's House, a domestic-violence agency, will hold a candlelight vigil on Friday February 7th for Jacque Villagomez, a 19-year-old who was killed by her boyfriend in 2008. In the summer of 2008 Villagomez met a 25-year-old Iraq War veteran, John Needham, who suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder. A quick romance started between the two and in September of the same year Villagomez was found beaten and unconscious in Needham’s bedroom. The next day, September 2, Villagomez died. Needham died shortly after while awaiting trial. Jill Murray, an expert on dating abuse and author of “But I Love Him: Protecting Your Teen Daughter from Controlling, Abusive Dating Relationships,” will also speak at the vigil. The candlelight Vigil will take place at the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Regional Training Academy, 15991 Armstrong Ave., Tustin. The Vigil will take place from 5:30 -7:00 pm.
