During the month of March the Orange County Sheriff’s Department along with the Orange County Department of Education, Orange County Heath Care Agency, and PRYDE held 5 presentations targeting parents. The presentations were designed to educate parents on these various E-cig/ vapor devices. How they work, the prevalence of these devices on school campuses and communities, short term health effects, prevention tips, and law enforcements approach to these devices. The 75 minute presentations took place in the following cities, Dana Point, Laguna Hills, Stanton, Lake Forest, and Rossmoor with approximately 178 parents in attendance.
All of the partnered outreach groups were also invited to attend each of the presentations and set up informational booths about their various programs for parents to visit. California Youth Services, PRYDE, and National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence participated at all five locations.
These presentations were not only able to reach parents but also elected school officials and school staff. Due to the success of these presentations other cities are now in the process of requesting presentations.
