OCSD Paticipates in Mock Water Rescue

On Thursday, June 26th OCSD participated in a Mock Water Rescue hosted by OCFA and the city of Mission Viejo. The demonstration, held at Sierra Recreation pool, consisted of life guards “rescuing” a young girl from the pool and performing CPR on her until OCFA firefighters arrived. OCSD Crime Prevention Specialists from Mission Viejo Police Services were on hand to provide attendees with handouts on water safety and other summer safety tips.

The event showed how quickly and quietly a drowning can occur and the importance of water safety. We encourage people to always swim with a buddy, never leave children unsupervised near a pool, have the appropriate equipment for your pool (gates, drain covers, etc.), and learn CPR.
