Airport SSO's Save Life of 76-Year-Old Man

On the evening of Tuesday, July 22, OCSD Sheriff's Special Officers (SSO) at John Wayne Airport (JWA) responded to the report of a 76 year old male who had collapsed, stopped breathing and had no pulse. SSO’s Robertson, Beam and Rapponatti performed CPR and utilized an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). After receiving a shock from the AED, the man began to breathe on his own.  He was transported to the hospital, where his condition was later listed as stable. Nineteen AED’s are available at JWA for use by trained emergency personnel.  Thank you to OCSD SSO’s Robertson, Beam and Rapponatti for their quick thinking and lifesaving efforts.
