Investigator Steve Hill has been named Rancho Santa Margarita's Deputy of the Year for 2005. Steve has worked for the Orange County Sheriff's Department since 1979. In that time he proved himself as a valuable asset to the Department. After being assigned to the Central Men's Jail and Theo Lacy, he was transferred to North Patrol in 1982. While on Patrol he joined the SWAT team and remained part of the team for 11 years. Steve was a Team Leader, Rappel Master and Chemical Agent Specialist.
Steve then transferred to the Sheriff's Academy as a Tactical Officer. After this assignment, Steve was assigned to the Career Criminal Apprehension Team (CCAT), which participated in a multi-jurisdiction drug interdiction assignment along the Mexican Boarder.
In October 1992, Steve was promoted to investigator, assigned to North Investigations, then to Sex Crimes. After these assignments he transferred to San Clemente and was finally assigned to Rancho Santa Margarita.
Everyone who interacts with Steve knows his strong work ethic and extremely deep knowledge base. His efforts and accomplishments have significantly contributed to the Department's success, and his dedication to duty is truly worthy of being named Deputy of the Year.
Congratulations to Investigator Steve Hill, and keep up the good work. We are all very proud of you!
